Anxiety Support in North Bay
Living with a mind that will not quiet down
Anxiety is more than feeling nervous before a big moment. For many people, it is a near-constant hum: racing thoughts, worst-case scenarios, a body that feels braced for danger even in safe moments. It can show up as restlessness, trouble sleeping, a pounding heart, difficulty concentrating, or an exhausting need to plan for every possibility.
Anxiety often narrows life quietly. You start avoiding the situations that trigger it, which brings short-term relief and long-term constriction. Social plans get cancelled. Opportunities get declined. The world gets smaller, and the anxiety, paradoxically, gets louder.
If this sounds familiar, you are not alone, and you are not broken. Anxiety is one of the most common reasons people seek therapy, and it is something that can be understood and worked with.
How psychotherapy can help
Therapy gives you a place to understand your anxiety rather than just fighting it. With me, you can explore what triggers your worry, how your body responds, and the patterns that keep the cycle going, such as avoidance, over-preparation, or harsh self-criticism about being anxious in the first place.
I draw on approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy, which examines the links between anxious thoughts, feelings, and behaviours; somatic therapy, which works directly with the body's alarm responses; and compassion focused approaches, which soften the shame that often accompanies anxiety. The work is collaborative and paced to what you can tolerate: therapy should challenge you gently, never flood you.
Over time, many people find they can notice anxiety arising without being ruled by it, and gradually reclaim the parts of life it had narrowed.

Frequently asked questions
Can therapy really help with anxiety?
Many people find therapy a valuable place to understand and work with anxiety. The focus is on understanding your patterns and building steadier ways of responding, at a pace that feels manageable.
I have felt anxious for as long as I can remember. Is it too late?
No. Long-standing patterns can still be explored and shifted. When something began does not determine whether it can change.
Will I be asked to do things that terrify me?
No. I work at your pace and will never push you into something you are not ready for. You remain in charge of the process.
What is the difference between everyday worry and an anxiety concern worth bringing to therapy?
If worry is persistent, hard to control, or interfering with your sleep, work, or relationships, it is worth exploring. You do not need a diagnosis to seek support.
Do you diagnose anxiety disorders?
I do not offer formal psychological diagnoses through this practice. Therapy focuses on understanding and working with your experiences. If you are seeking a formal assessment, the consultation is a good place to discuss options.
