Areas of Support
Depression Support in North Bay
When everything feels heavy
Depression does not always look the way people expect. It is not always tears. Sometimes it is numbness: getting through the day on autopilot, feeling disconnected from people you love, or watching the things that used to matter slide quietly out of reach. Motivation dries up. Simple tasks feel enormous. You might feel sad, empty, irritable, or just flat, and explaining it to others can feel impossible.
One of the cruelest parts of depression is how it convinces you that reaching out is pointless, or that you should be able to handle it alone. That voice is part of the depression, not the truth about you.
How psychotherapy can help
Therapy offers something depression works hard to take away: genuine human connection and a space where your experience is met with understanding rather than judgment. With me, you do not have to perform wellness or explain yourself away. You can speak honestly about how things really feel.
The work may include exploring what contributes to your low mood, understanding patterns of withdrawal or self-criticism, and gently reconnecting with the parts of life that feel meaningful. I draw on approaches including compassion focused therapy, behavioural perspectives that honour small, sustainable steps, and humanistic, strength-based work that recognizes the person underneath the depression.
Therapy moves at your pace. On difficult days, simply showing up is enough, and I will meet you where you are.

Frequently asked questions
I can barely get through the day. Is therapy too much right now?
No. Therapy is designed to meet you where you are, including on the hard days. I will keep the pace gentle and manageable.
Will I have to talk about everything that is wrong?
Only what you are ready to share. Therapy is not an interrogation; it unfolds at your speed.
How is therapy different from talking to a friend?
A therapist offers something distinct: professional training, complete confidentiality, and a relationship focused entirely on you, without the mutual obligations of friendship.
What if I have tried therapy before and it did not help?
Different therapists work differently, and timing matters. The free consultation is a chance to see whether my approach feels like a better fit.
Do I need a diagnosis to start therapy?
No. You do not need a label to deserve support. I work with your lived experience, whatever shape it takes.
