Areas of Support
Life Transitions Support in North Bay
When life changes, even for the better
Some transitions are chosen: a new career, a move, a relationship beginning or ending, a long-awaited change finally arriving. Others arrive uninvited: a loss, a health scare, children leaving home, an ending you did not plan. Even positive change can leave you feeling unmoored, grieving what was, or unsure who you are in the new landscape.
Transitions stir up big questions about identity, belonging, and direction. It is normal to feel excited and terrified in the same afternoon, or to wonder why you are struggling when, on paper, everything looks fine. Change asks a lot of us, and it deserves support.
How psychotherapy can help
Therapy provides steady ground while everything else shifts. With me, you can make sense of what is ending and what is beginning, grieve what needs grieving, and explore who you want to be in this next chapter.
This work often involves understanding your responses to change, including the patterns that surface under pressure, and identifying what you need to navigate the transition with intention rather than just endurance. I draw on approaches including humanistic and strength-based perspectives, solution focused work that builds on your resilience, and emotionally focused exploration of what the change means to you.
Transitions are also openings. Many people find that with support, a difficult change becomes a turning point toward a life that fits them better.
What to expect when you reach out
Your first step is a free 15-minute consultation through the online scheduler: a relaxed conversation about what is changing and what kind of support would help. Individual sessions are 50 minutes ($170), in person in North Bay or online anywhere in Ontario. Couples sessions ($190) are available if you and a partner are navigating a transition together.
Frequently asked questions
My transition was my choice. Should I not just be happy about it?
Chosen change can still be disorienting. Feeling grief, doubt, or overwhelm alongside excitement is completely normal, and therapy honours all of it.
Can therapy help with practical decisions, like a career move?
Therapy will not make the decision for you, but it can help you understand your values, fears, and patterns around decision-making, which often brings real clarity. I also offer career guidance as an area of focus.
How long do people usually come for transition support?
It varies. Some clients come for a focused period around a specific change; others stay longer to explore deeper questions the transition raised.
What if I am in the middle of several changes at once?
That is more common than you might think, and it is exactly when support matters most. Therapy can help you sort through what is happening and find steadier footing.
Begin your next chapter
You do not have to navigate this chapter alone. If you are curious about therapy, or ready to begin, I invite you to book a free 15-minute consultation and see whether working together feels right.
